Homecoming is an event sponsored by KILA (the Kelleys Island Landowners Association) and serves as a weekend for those who love this island to return and enjoy fun, food, and entertainment. For the first time in 40 years, this event will last two days. All Homecoming events will take place at the Kelleys Island Pavilion, located on Addison St.
Homecoming kicks off on Friday night. From 5-9pm, attendees will find bands (country, 80s, and 90s rock), food trucks, and games for children.
On Saturday, the fun begins with a parade down Lakeshore Drive at 11am. The parade starts at the old Neumann Ferry dock. Anyone can enter the parade and anything that rolls counts as a float! There will also be a craft fair, food trucks, a puppet show, balloons, face painting, a bounce house, and live music (Frank and Dean Rat Pack from 12:30-2:30, Fat City from 2:30-4:30pm) in the Pavillion. From 12-4pm, there will be beer, food, vendors, and games, like the famous beer slide! The beer slide game will turn 42 this year! Winners get free beer. There will also be a pie-eating contest, a twinkie-eating contest, and marshmallow golf!
Additionally, on Saturday, any Estes School alumni present at Homecoming will have the opportunity to be in a group picture at the school at noon.
There will also be a silent auction and annual raffle. Tickets are $20/each and KILA will only sell 500 tickets.
First prize – $2500
Second prize – $1000
Third prize – $500
Fourth prize – $250
Fifth prize – $100
Proceeds from the ticket sales go to KILA’s annual “Improve the Island” project, which is TBD. In the past, KILA has funded five new lights in Memorial Park and repaired the Pavillion. Each year, the organization seeks to find new projects that not only improve the quality of island experience not just for visitors, but residents as well.
